TO ADVANCE AGYW INVOLVEMENT AND PARTICIPATION FOR ETHICAL AND EQUITABLE PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHLAXIS (PrEP) IMPLEMENTATION AND ROLL OUT FOR AGYW AT RISK

The AVAC advocacy fellow’s project hosted by the Naguru Teenage Information and Health Center will focuses on advocacy for the integration and streamlining of PrEP services with SRHR services and rolling PrEP out as part of a combination prevention package of HIV prevention among AGYW at risk in Uganda. This is done hand in hand with sensitization and raising awareness on HIV prevention innovations among  adolescent girls and young women(AGYW ) especially the most at risk, CSOs both led by young people and those serving young people so that they are aware so to demand for PrEP services for the constituencies they serve. The project also targets local and national policy programming for adolescent girls and young women’s sexual & reproductive health in order to utilize evidence based knowledge from research on the various new options of HIV prevention so that these can be turned into interventions or services and guide implementation and scale up and to demonstrate PrEP integration into information processes for SRHR.

Focus is put on the current PrEP in country roll out, a PEPFAR funded program coordinated by the ministry of health to identify and address challenges in PrEP access for AGYW at risk and targets AGYW, CSOs, SRHR advocates in other institutions, MOH, Funders, Implementing Partners, Researchers and academia and Media. The project has four objectives and a set of activities are developed to facilitate achieving the objectives above.
